Potato au Gratin
Creamy, cheesy and flavorful potatoes, which are a great side-dish for meat or fish. It can also be eaten as a main dish.
Ingredients (2~3 servings)
- Potatoes (450 g)
- Butter (20 g)
- Onion (1 medium / 2 small)
- Garlic (2 cloves)
- Milk (240 mL)
- Heavy cream (60 mL)
- Shredded cheddar (90 g)
- Parmesan (15 g)
- Parsley
- Salt and pepper
Steps
- Cut the potatoes in thin slices. Wash them to partially remove some starch, then lay them in a tray.
- Chop finely the onion and garlic and put it to cook with the butter at medium-high heat, until they are translucent.
- Add the milk and cream and slowly bring to boil, together with the cheddar, salt and pepper. Do not stop stirring to prevent clumps.
- Preheat the oven at 180 °C. Pour the mixture over the potatoes and grate the Parmesan on top.
- Cover the tray with foil and bake it for
1 hour until the potatoes are tender. - Remove the foil cover and bake it for
20 minutes. - Let it sit for
5 minutes at room temperature before serving.
